Sony VGF-HS1 - round Media Server for the Digital Home

Sony introduced in Japan its Media Server, concurrently NAS-sharing system. This model has received designation as VGF-HS1 (or “Liblog Station”) and is equipped with, depending on the configuration, by 1TB(VGF-HS1), or 1.5TB (VGF-HS1S) of disk space.

Given the design features, this device could be placed atop existing VAIO HTPC, which has the same design - cylindrical shape and white hull.

New Media Server VAIO VGF-HS1 equipped with a Gigabit network adapter, supports DLNA HNv1 and wireless transmission media (video formats in AVCHD, MPEG2, HDV (MPEG2-TS); photos in JPEG, BMP, PNG and sound in WAV, MP3, ATRAC, ATRAC Advanced Lossless, AAC, WMA) in the home network, equipped with a built-screen, can work with USB-devices (3 port).

For its front panel hidden card-reader that supports Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, SD/SDHC and Compact Flash Memory Card (CF). Through this you can very quickly
copy to a VGF-HS1 disk digital camera captured material and view it is already on the big screen.

Dimensions VGF-HS1 is 270 x 71 mm, weight - 3.1 kg. Media server consumes little power: 12 W in a sleep-mode and up to 30W at work. Compatible operating systems are Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista.

The price for 1TB version of Sony VGF-HS1 - 560 dollars, 1.5TB version will cost a little more expensive - $745
