New HDD Hitachi Travelstar 7K320: speed without compromise
If on indicators of capacity hard drives Hitachi is the leader of recent years, on the speed situation not so clear.
At least, Travelstar 7K320 not be the first in the segment of 320 GB hard drives in the 2.5 inch form factor and speed spindle at 7200 rpm – in March, has already submitted such a product by Fujitsu. But Hitachi already sells its products, while its competitor will do so only at the end of June.
Previous model of the company with such speed was 60% less (200 GB), 12% less speed and 22% more energy consumption, so that leap for the company in the issuance of a new product is very significant.
Another remarkable feature of the new products is the best in its class resistance to mechanical damage – up to 400G in working condition (1000G outside).
Optional will be offered as a series of HDDs equipped with data encryption module for Bulk Data Encryption (BDE).
