MSI will replace the BIOS by the perspective EFI this summer

The source writes that already this summer MSI will offer users free to replace the BIOS (the system, written in Assembler by the present moment already more than 20 years) of motherboards by its much more functional extensible firmware interface (EFI).

Adoption concerns motherboards built on the basis of a set of Intel P45 Express system logic, wich only preparing for debut. EFI for them planned for release by June.

The novelty propose a much more functional interface that allows use mouse and offers far more opportunities than BIOS. It should be noted that to date, MSI has managed bypass the restrictions initially imposed by a family of Windows operating systems. Users of Windows XP will be able to install and use common OS. The only disadvantage may be the fact that utilities used to monitoring the performance of the BIOS from operating system and to overclock the components of the PC, without leaving it, to be fully functional only in Vista x64 SP1.

Let’s remind, one of the main competitors MSI, ASUS, goes on its own way, preferring to write Linux in flash-memory, which can perform many actions through seconds after the starting PC. Which approach will win? We will see soon.
