E Ink has announced the availability of the next generation of SDC-displays
E Ink Corporation announced the availability of the next generation of SDC-displays (segmented display cells). This type of display devices is a simple digital-alphabetic segmented displays, which reportedly offer exceptional readability of information while the thickness of such a screen is equal to the thickness of ordinary sheet of paper.
n addition to the minimum thickness and well readability SDC-screens can boast extremely low consumption of energy. They are, as stated, by 40% thinner counterparts and work in a wider range of temperature (from -10°C to +60°C).
Areas of application for SDC-screens performed on E Ink Vizplex technology (the same that is used in devices Amazon Kindle, SONY Reader and iRex iLiad), are called: consumer electronics, computer accessories, smartkarty with screens, all sorts of indicators of capacity, electronic tags and communication applications.
