BAE Systems plans over five years to create a miniature battle robot

BAE Systems, one of the largest manufacturers of weapons (97500 employees, annual sales – 31.4 billion dollars), will head the development team, which faces the challenge of creating miniature battlefield robots. The related contract amounting to 38 million U.S. already signed with the U.S. military.

Alliance companies and universities, known as Micro Autonomous Systems and
Technology (MAST).
Collaborative Technology Alliance will research on and development of robots
designed for action in urban settings and areas with difficult terrain, which should be understood, for example, mountains and caves. The developers expect to create a series of autonomous, miniature, multifunction machines, whose main task will be to collect intelligence information in places inaccessible or too dangerous for humans

The program is designed to work for a five years with the possibility of extension for
another five years.
